Mission Statement
The goal of the Alameda Children’s Musical Theatre is to expose children to the wonders of theatre both as audience and participants. ACMT is dedicated to producing quality children’s theatre, performed by children, for an inexpensive cost. Children who participate on and/or behind stage learn about art, music, theatre, and most importantly, teamwork.

About ACMT

ACMT is a qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. There is no paid administrative staff and the Board Members (approximately 7- 10) manage the organization on a volunteer basis and are actively involved in producing our shows.  At times, professional artists will receive stipends to insure that the children involved receive a high quality experience.  Community involvement is high on the list of what makes ACMT work.

Performing casts are a mix of children, ages 5 to 17, and sometimes adults. Most plays require a cast of 15 to 20 children and a few may require adults in supporting roles. ACMT has found that mixed casts allow the children to strive for greater heights in their performances by emulating their older counterparts. The older, experienced children also handle some technical aspects of performances, including make-up, lighting, sound, and stage management.

ACMT performs in various rented spaces in the city of Alameda. Our current goal is to have at least 2 shows a year in the Spring/Fall, and to offer theatre camps during the Summer.

To cover the cost of producing theatre ACMT depends on ticket sales, private donations, corporate donations, and tuition. Underwriting of shows by generous donors allows ACMT to continue to provide high quality theater experiences to local youth and to increase its scholarship fund allowing children throughout our community to participate regardless of economic standing.

ACMT's Board of Directors

The board members work to ensure that ACMT is able to meet its mission of providing quality theater by children and for children. The following is a list of the current ACMT Board: James Hearn (President), Anna Anderson (Vice President/Treasurer), Julia Bruce (Secretary), Page Barnes, Bridget Terry and Sylvie Schmidt.  ACMT's Board members produce ACMT's shows with the assistance of the parents of cast members.
